Heavy rainfall and flash flooding have caused moderate to severe impacts in parts of Deir‑ez‑Zor governorate, particularly in Abu Kamal and nearby areas. Al‑Suwai’iyah bridge collapsed due to the heavy rains, disrupting movement to and from Abu Kamal and temporarily isolating surrounding villages and the border crossing with Iraq. People were supported to cross the river by ferry to continue their journeys onward.
Authorities are working on repairing the bridge; however, repairs may take time. A temporary detour has been established to enable limited access. UNHCR and partners are monitoring the situation and supporting affected communities.
